MAC Nail Trend Fall 2010 by Jin Soon Choi

Did you buy from last year’s MAC Nail Trend? If you could recall, MAC gave us a full collection of nail lacquers designed by the talented Jin Soon Choi. If you don’t know who she is, learn more about the girl who used to be known as “Bicycle Jin” here. Her story is very moving and inspiring!
Back to the collection – although MAC nail polishes are hit or miss for me, Nail Trend was total hit! I bought 5 out of the 6 colors from the collection. When I first heard that there’s going to be a sequel to this collection for 2010, I was super excited!
The initial bottle photos look uber interesting and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they are as fabulous as they look in the initial stock photos!
To kick things off, here are the color descriptions:
- Concubine- Blackened red with red shimmer
- Earthly Harmony- Muted Taupe with copper shimmer
- Ming Blue- Cobalt blue with teal and red shimmer
- Rain of Flowers- Blackened violet with violet shimmer
- Imperial Flower- Bright reddish orange with gold and red shimmer
- Jade Dragon- Emerald green with teal shimmer
Is your heart beating a little bit faster already? Wait ’till you scroll further down. You’ve been warned!

MAC Earthly Harmony

MAC Concubine

MAC Rain of Flowers

Aren’t these so lust worthy??!?!??!
There are many things I’m actually digging about this collection:
- I’m a sucker for cosmetic collaborations. I am such a marketing victim. Name it – Barbie Loves Stila, MAC Venomous Villains, MAC Hello Kitty, OPI Shrek…even in my taste in fashion…Thakoon for Target, Liberty of London for Target, etc etc. I love all of them!
- The oriental-inspired names and color palette. Take that, OPI Hongkong! MAC and Jin Soon are proving that you don’t need to come up with silly and corny polish names to sell polish.
Jade Dragon, Ming Blue…these are pretty cool and straightforward names and not any less creative in my own humble opinion. - This collection is design by a nail artist and not some marketing guy who doesn’t know what he/she is talking about. Obviously, I’m a fan of Jin Soon based on what I have researched about her. Her story inspires me so much.
What I’m not looking forward to:
- Ebay scalpers who will hoard all MAC stock and sell for $$$ on Ebay. Ugh, I hate you all!
- The price tag. $12 for 10ml isn’t easy on the pocket especially since salon brands are selling for around $8 for 15ml of quality polish. $12 x 6 polishes for me makes things worse.
But overall, I’m a happy nail polish lover to see this collection coming soon. Can’t wait to get my hands on all of these.
These are due out in the US August and everywhere else September.
