A Tribute to the King of Pop through Nail Art

When I started REALLY getting into nail polishes and everything nails, I wasn’t aware of how many nail art fanatics are out there in the world until I started seeing so many sites and blogs with very creative and outrageous designs.  It’s pretty awesome, really!  Some are pretty and dainty while some are just plain weird and even scary.  Doesn’t take away the fact that these designs showcase so much creativity and I commend each and every person that thinks (and creates) these designs!  That is artistry.

Let me show you one of the most wicked and out of this world designs I’ve seen to date:

What a fitting tribute to one of the greatest artists that have walked on the face of the earth – Michael Jackson – via another art form.  It’s not something I will attempt to do myself, for sure!

Orly Instant Artist Collection – for Nail Art Lovers Out There

Orly is on a roll, and I’m wiping the drool off my face!

As if releasing info about the upcoming fall collections, Cosmix and Plastix (if you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t heard about these yet, check out my quick post here), got wind of new stuff from one of my fave nail polish brands, Orly.  Introducing a whole new line of stuff with the nail art lovers in mind – the Instant Artist Collection.

Orly Instant Artist Collection

As some of you may already know, I’m such an absolute loser as far as nail art is concerned (my miserable attempt documented in this post). This is in spite of the fact that I have a whole bunch of Konad plates and polishes as well as tons of nail art stuff purchased from Ebay Hongkong sellers.  I promised myself that I would free up some time to practice, look at more nail art pics and watch more nail art videos over at YouTube (recommendations, anyone?).  Speaking of videos, Orly has their own pretty neat nail art tutorial here using their own products.

Even if my nail art stash is virtually untouched I can’t help but WANT to try these awesome nail art polishes.  Nail art polish with the signature Orly gripper cap?  Sign me up!  (Note to self:  Should definitely dedicate a whole post on how much I love the Orly brush and the gripper cap that makes application such a breeze!)  Did I mention that the Instant Artist polishes are actually water-based so that makes removal so easy?

Enough talk.  These are already available for sale over at the Orly website.  The Instant Artist polishes are $5 each.  They also have a starter kit and a couple of basic nail art tools for sale too.

Orly, keep the awesome stuff coming.  You have a die hard fan in me.  Love, Belle.

Hurry! Stock Up on Konad Supplies Now!

Attention gals (both Manila-based and anywhere else on the planet, even the US & Canada), stock up on Konad supplies at great prices now while the 30% off codes of OC Nail Art, a fabulous etailer, last!  Today, March 5 (US time) is the last day that these discount codes would work.  Stock up now!  A lot of bloggers out there have their own codes that you can use but I personally use the code of my favorite nail blogger, Scrangie – just enter scrangie at checkout to receive the 30% discount.

For those who haven’t tried ordering from OC Nail Art, here are some reasons why I like them a lot:

  • Fantastic customer service.  All email inquiries are answered pronto.  Excellent communication all the way.
  • Free worldwide shipping for overs over $40 (after discounts are applied).

For Manila based girls who are wondering how these prices compare – with the discount and free shipping offer, most of the products come out cheaper here compared to buying these Konad supplies locally (the only brick & mortar store that I’ve been to is the small stall in Shopwise Cubao).

I have already placed a huge order that I’ve been putting off for months.  Here’s what I got, in case you’re interested:

  • Plastic Scraper – The metal one that comes with the kit I have leaves scratches on the image plates so I want to order the plastic one.  You could also use an old credit card for this purpose but I like to have a smaller one to use for Konad.
  • Clear Stamper set – For those of you who have the old style stamper, it’s very difficult to see pink or red polishes on the red surface of the stamper.  For about 200 pesos (after discount), I consider this as an investment.
  • Special Stamping Polish in Black, White, and Green – Though you can use a lot of other brands of polish for Konading, I heard that the Konad black and white polishes are still THE best for this purpose.
  • Princess Polishes in Gold Black, Violet Pearl, Blue Pearl, Yellow, Psyche Hot Pink, Dark Purple/Eggplant – The difference between the Princess Polishes and the regular Konad stamping polish is just the size, bottle, and brush.  I’m getting more bang for my buck getting these and they have some unique colors in this line.

Just a word of caution – don’t buy the metallic Konad polishes, they hardly show up!  You’re better off using chrome polishes (like those from the China Glaze Romantique and Khrome collections) to get the same effect.

I also did not get any of the image plates because I like seeing them in person first before buying.  I will have to rely on the trusty Konad stall in Shopwise Cubao for this – I visit them once in a while to check out new stuff and potential plates that I want to buy.

By the way, the OC Nail Art website is a bit tricky to navigate – the main site is here while the store itself is here.  The main site has a lot of useful info for Konad newbies so it’s worth checking out even if you’re not buying.

On another note, again I apologize for not posting much lately – I’ve had these last-minute trips I needed to take and I don’t have time to do anything else!  Thankfully, I managed to schedule a few blog posts here and there.  Expect more posts after the next week or so – will definitely post about my Konad stuff soon!
