Coming Up! Essie Wedding Collection

Essie is arguably the most recognized nail polish brand in the salon world (perhaps neck-in-neck with OPI).  When I started getting professional manis a couple of years ago, it seems that Essie and Orly were the only known brands to local salons in Manila.

Essie has been known for their pretty nudes – think Ballet Slippers, Marshmallow.  And now they’re coming up with a collection of pretty nudes and sheers specifically for brides-to-be.

Some of you may yawn, some may get excited at the prospect of another set of soft shades.  But there’s something about Essie’s new collection packaging, the “Color Cubes” (which I first wrote about here) that gets me really giddy.  Look:

And a couple of color patches and shade names:

Anyone excited?  Got to see some swatches!  This might just surprise me, like Art of Spring.

Lemming Alert! Essie Art of Spring

If you got to read my post about upcoming collections, you would know how crazy I was about the China Glaze Up & Away collection and how I passed off the Essie Spring 2010 Collection as a dud, to quote:

No swatches online it seems, but I don’t think I’ll be tempted by anything in this collection, unless I am offered the usual pinks or reds for $2.

Not only are there swatches everywhere (check out Scrangie’s wonderful swatches as usual here), but I am now tempted to buy the entire set, so enticingly packaged in a cute little “color cube”:

Is it such a bad thing to buy all these 6?  Damn, I’m such a sucker for cremes!

Color Club Spring 2010 Collection: Rebel Debutante

If I were to rank nail polish brands based on “reliability” – solid collections, pretty colors, awesome formula – Color Club will definitely land in the Top 5.  And that’s saying a lot if you have already seen the array of brands I have in my collex.

I’ve been waiting breathlessly for news on what Color Club has in store for Spring, and it does not disappoint!

L-R: Who Are You Wearing?, High Society, Best Dressed List, Charity Ball, Uptown Girl, Ms. Socialite, She’s Sooo Glam, Rebel Debutante, Gossip Column

Sure buys: Rebel Debutante, Gossip Column, High Society, Best Dressed List

Not-so-sure buys, need to see more swatches: Who are You Wearing?, Charity Ball

My-will-buy-at-the-right-price-even-if -I-have-a-million-dupes: Uptown Girl, She’s Sooo Glam, Ms. Socialite

Can’t wait!  I think this collection may be 50% done before, 50% new twist on ordinary colors. – a good balance. I can’t afford another 100% kaboom like China Glaze Up & Away which was a big blow to my wallet. :)
